Panthers Push Cerro Coso to Four Sets in IEAC Play
The Chaffey College women's volleyball team turned in a strong effort on Wednesday night but fell 3-1 to Cerro Coso (23-25, 27-5, 25-18, 25-19) at the Sports Center. The match marked the Panthers' final home contest of the season, as the team showcased resilience and offensive balance, taking the opening set and battling through several extended rallies across the match.
Chaffey opened with sharp execution in the first set, winning 25-23 behind efficient passing and consistent hitting. Bria Love led the offense with 14 kills and four service aces, while also adding two assists and a team-high eight digs. Emma Rhodes followed with eight kills and three aces, maintaining pressure at the net. Lauren Medina added six kills, and Kasey Quevedo contributed two kills.
Natalia Frausto directed the attack with 16 assists, two aces, and five digs, while Madalyn Ayers-Morris added nine assists and one dig. Grace Hoang provided defensive stability with a team-high four assists and one ace, while Maya Garza and Lailah Williams each added key kills to sustain Chaffey's momentum in the middle sets.
As a team, the Panthers totaled 37 kills, 34 assists, 11 aces, and 48 digs. Chaffey came within a few points of forcing a decisive fifth set, showing composure and energy through late-set rallies.
The Panthers will now travel to face College of the Desert on Friday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m.
