Panthers Shut Out by Long Beach in Conference Opener
The Chaffey College women's water polo team hosted their first South Coast Conference game of the 2025 season on Wednesday afternoon but were overpowered by Long Beach City College, falling 22-0 at the Aquatic Center. Despite battling through four quarters, the Panthers couldn't break through against the Vikings' relentless defense and high-volume attack.
Chaffey worked to generate looks at the cage, with Sarah Alexander and Alyssa Garcia leading counterattack sequences and Elise Camarena distributing from the perimeter. The Vikings' defense held the Panthers to just 15 total shots, forcing off-balance attempts and disrupting Chaffey's offensive rhythm.
Goalkeeper Savannah Shaw finished with eight saves, standing strong against constant pressure and keeping the margin from widening further.
The Panthers will regroup and turn their focus to their next South Coast Conference matchup, traveling to face Cerritos College on Wednesday, September 24, at 4:15 p.m.
