Panthers Record First Loss Against LA Valley
The Chaffey College women's water polo team recorded their first loss of the season, falling 12-2 on the road against LA Valley College. Despite creating looks at the cage, the Panthers could not break through against the Monarchs' defense.
The Panthers were held scoreless in the first quarter and got on the board in the second quarter when Sarah Alexander converted on an assist from Alyssa Garcia, cutting the deficit to 4-1. The Monarchs answered with eight consecutive goals to secure the win. In the closing seconds, Garcia added a goal of her own with an assist from Elise Camarena to cap the Panthers' scoring.
In the cage, Savannah Shaw finished with 11 saves, holding firm against consistent pressure and preventing further scoring runs from the Monarchs.
The Panthers will shift their focus to tournament play at the Cypress Invitational on Friday, September 12. Chaffey opens against East Los Angeles College at 12:30 p.m. and will compete against Southwestern College at 2 p.m.
