Chaffey Shows Resilience Despite Setback to College of the Desert
The Chaffey College volleyball team dropped their Inland Empire Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday night, falling in straight sets to College of the Desert (25-11, 25-10, 25-19) at the Sports Center. The Panthers showed resilience across all rotations and battled to extend rallies in a competitive third set.
Emma Rhodes and Bria Love led the Panthers' offense, each recording seven kills. Rhodes paced the attack with a .667 hitting percentage, while Love followed with a .417 hitting percentage and added steady defensive contributions. Kasey Quevedo recorded two kills on two swings for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage.
Natalia Frausto directed the offense with two service aces and two assists, while Madalyn Ayers-Morris added another assist and provided coverage in the back row. Grace Hoang steadied the defense with consistent serve-receive play and helped stabilize the Panthers' passing rhythm late in the match.
Chaffey now moves to 0-4 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. The Panthers will set their sights on their next match when they return home on Friday, Oct. 17, to host Mt. San Jacinto College at 5 p.m.
