The Panther Women came out strong committed to holding their own against Riverside tonight and that tenacity proved successful in a 63-61 win over the Tigers.
Trailing by only three at the half, the Panthers came out of the locker room moving slower and RCC quickly built up a sizeable lead. But, Chaffey's indomitable spirit came through and by the final minute the gap had closed once more allowing Breonna Martinez to make a layup to give the team a one point edge with 26 seconds remaining. Riverside's opportunity passed with a missed shot followed by a foul putting the Panthers up by three with less than one second on the clock. A desperate lob by Riverside at the buzzer fell short and the Panthers claimed the much needed victory.
Fatimah Sani led the Panthers with a career high 18 points and 6 rebounds. Atalia Thomas added 17.
The Panthers are on the road this weekend and will return to the Sports Center Tuesday to take on Santa Ana in a late added game.
