Chaffey pulls out a close one at College of the Desert
The Panthers traveled to Palm Desert for the final game of their 3-game conference series, having won the first two outings.
Things looked good for Chaffey early on, as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first two innings, thanks to a pair of RBI’s on a Rosyvette Garcia double and another RBI single for Mia Britt.
But Desert battled back, tying the game 5-5 in the fifth inning.
Chaffey responded in the 6th when Garcia singled and promptly stole second. Mia Britt followed with an RBI to give the Panthers a 6-5 lead.
Freshman Bryanna Ortega shut down COD in the 6th and Chaffey added another run in the 7th. Sophomore Danielle Singley picked up a pinch-hit double and then scored on freshman Nevaeha Tarin’s single for the 7-5 lead.
Ortega finished off the 7th inning to pick up the win, improving her record to 9-4 on the season.
Chaffey moved to 8-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play and 23-9 overall.
