Panthers Outmatched by El Camino
The Chaffey College men's water polo team came up short in their South Coast Conference match up on Wednesday afternoon, falling 17-7 to El Camino College. The Warriors opened strong in the first period and maintained control throughout, while the Panthers showed resilience and continued to create scoring opportunities throughout the match.
The Warriors built a 7-1 lead after the opening frame, but the Panthers found its rhythm in the second period with goals from Mario Nikolovski and Gabriel Zarate Ayala. The Panthers continued to push offensively in the third period as Vincent Garibay scored twice, first off a feed from Parker Black and later unassisted to cut into the deficit.
Chaffey closed the match with goals from Aiden Kelly and Black, who each found the back of the cage in the fourth period. Baron Gonzalez collected two assists, while Garibay led the team with three goals. Goalkeepers Nolan Hanson and Adam Kirkpatrick combined for several key saves against the Warriors' attack.
With the loss, the Panthers move 0-3 in the South Coast Conference. Chaffey will look to bounce back when they host Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday, October 8, at 3 p.m.
