Sophomore Zixi “David” Xu represented Chaffey College at the 3C2A State Swimming Championships on April 30-May 2, delivering a standout performance with top-eight finishes in all three of his individual events while setting multiple school records.
Xu placed 8th in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, holding steady in two highly competitive sprint finals against the fastest swimmers in California Community College athletics. He delivered his strongest performance in the 200-yard butterfly, earning 2nd place overall and securing one of Chaffey’s top finishes of the meet.
In addition to reaching the podium, Xu set new Chaffey College men’s program records in all three events he competed in. He posted a 1:41.04 in the 200 freestyle, a 46.10 in the 100 freestyle, and a 1:50.63 in the 200 butterfly.
His ability to advance into finals across sprint and mid-distance events highlights both his versatility and consistency under pressure. Xu’s performances also contributed to Chaffey’s presence across multiple finals, reinforcing the program’s competitiveness at the state level.
The sophomore’s record-breaking weekend capped a strong season and established new benchmarks for the men’s program moving forward.
