The Chaffey College men's soccer team battled back from an early deficit to earn a 2-1 comeback win over Taft College. The Panthers struck twice in the second half to secure their fourth win of the season.
Taft opened the scoring in the 24th minute, but Chaffey regrouped after the halftime break and quickly responded. Just a minute into the second half, Victor Ramos leveled the match with a finish assisted by Diego Garcia. The decisive moment came in the 70th minute, when Ramos struck again from a Garcia feed to put the Panthers ahead 2-1. Altogether, Chaffey generated 13 shots on goal and controlled the pace for much of the second half.
Defensively, the Panthers tightened up after conceding early, limiting the Cougars to just four shots on goal for the match. The backline held firm under pressure by winning key challenges to deny the Cougars any additional chances. Goalkeeper Fernando Monteon made three saves in 90 minutes, preserving the one-goal advantage and clinch the victory.
The Panthers (4-0-1) will host Santa Monica College on Friday, September 12, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
