Panthers Outlast Glendale in Overtime Win
The Chaffey College men's basketball team returned to the Sports Center on Wednesday evening and delivered one of its most complete outings of the season, defeating Glendale College 93-89 in an overtime thriller. Behind efficient shooting, resilient late-game execution, and a balanced scoring effort, the Panthers secured their second consecutive win.
Chaffey opened the game with sharp ball movement and high-percentage looks, shooting 53.1 percent from the field in the first half, including five made threes, to build a 46-36 halftime lead. Glendale responded in the second half with improved perimeter shooting and a strong effort on the glass, outscoring the Panthers 45-35 to force overtime.
The Panthers took control in overtime, outscoring Glendale 12-8 behind timely scoring from Kameron Gardner, Semaj Morrison, Christian Walton, Kajuan Thomas and a series of key defensive stops. Chaffey's commitment to attacking the rim and drawing contact proved decisive, helping secure the four-point win.
Thomas led the Panthers with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting, while adding a team-high 11 rebounds and two blocks across 32 minutes. Walton followed with 20 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals, providing critical two-way production. Smith finished with 17 points and five rebounds while shooting 6-for-8 from the field.
Ingram posted 12 points, two assists and two rebounds. Off the bench, Gozie Eijike was a steady playmaker and recorded a team-high six assists.
As a team, Chaffey shot 51.6 percent from the field and 31.8 from three while generating 32 bench points and 15 points off turnovers. The Panthers also limited Glendale to 37.7 shooting and overcame a 47-36 rebounding deficit by outscoring the Vaqueros in the paint and executing efficiently in overtime.
The Panthers will look to continue their momentum at home as they host San Diego Mesa College on Friday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m.
