Bio

Assistant Coach Chris Paterson is a community college alumni having played baseball at Barstow College before transferring to DI North Dakota State University. At NDSU, Paterson was a two-way player as an outfielder and pitcher; earning a National Collegiate Player of the Week award for pitching a no hitter against Creighton University. He then went on to throw 20 straight scoreless innings as one of the top relievers on the Bison team. 

After earning his bachelors degree in social studies with a minor in history, Paterson spent a few years playing professionally and then managing in multiple independent leagues worldwide.  In 2011, Paterson lead the Roswell Invaders (Pecos League) to a championship.  In 2014, he again lead his team to a championship with the Rio Grande White Wings (United League).  He earned Manager of the Year both seasons,

Paterson spent two years with the Tamp Bay Rays organization as an associate scout and coached their elite Rays scout team in Southern California.  There he coached multiple future first round draft picks and future MLB players.  He has also scouted for the Miami Marlins in Southern California and the Mexican major league team Pericos de Puebla.

In 2017, Paterson began coaching at Coachella Valley HS and then became a full-time teacher at Notre Dame High School in Riverside also coaching multiple sports including cross country, tennis, softball and baseball.  In 2019, He lead his team to their first playoffs and winning season in 13 years.

He currently is a full-time high school teacher at Indian Springs High School in San Bernardino.  Paterson holds two masters degrees: coaching and athletic administration and education with emphasis in social emotional learning.
