Chaffey Erupts for 11-4 Win Over Barstow
Chaffey College’s baseball team used a mid-game surge and dominant bullpen performance to pull away from Barstow, securing an 11-4 victory on March 19.
Barstow opened the scoring in the first inning for a 1-0 lead, but Chaffey quickly responded in the second. Grant Price got the Panthers on the board with a two-RBI double, and Hayden Hull followed with a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead.
After Barstow briefly regained the lead, Chaffey answered with a three-run frame in the third inning to take control at 6-4.
The Panthers continued to build their lead with consistent production across the lineup, scoring in four of the final six innings.
Andrew Cuellar led the offense with two hits and three runs scored. Price delivered a standout performance with three RBIs and three runs, while Hull added two RBIs.
Pitcher David Trujillo earned the win, allowing only four runs over three innings. The bullpen dominated the rest of the way, with Tyler Cazares throwing four scoreless innings and Alejandro Preciado closing the game with two shutout frames.
Chaffey’s all-around performance helped secure the win as the Panthers bounce back.
Chaffey returns to face Barstow again on March 21.
